Quality Inspector – Walsall – Salary up to £35k
My client is a precision engineering company supplying and supporting the Aerospace Industry.
They are seeking a skilled Quality Inspector with strong expertise in jigs, fixtures, and components. You will ensure all manufactured components and assemblies meet strict quality standards. This role requires hands-on experience with Jigs, fixtures, components along with programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to validate complex tools and high-precision parts.
Key Responsibilities: –
• Inspect, strip and validate tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
• Programme, set up, and operate CMM machinery.
• Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspection checks.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric tolerances (GD&T).
• Identify, document, and investigate product quality defects.
• Lead root-cause analysis using 8D or 5-Why methodologies.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) on production lines.
• Generate detailed inspection reports and FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports).
• Collaborate with tooling designers to resolve manufacturing defects.
• Calibrate and maintain workshop inspection tools and gauges.
Candidate Requirements: –
• Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in precision engineering / manufacturing.
• Strong background working with Jigs, fixtures and tooling.
• Proficiency in CMM programming preferred, training can and will be provided.
• Expert ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
• Experience using manual measuring tools like micrometres and verniers.
• Supporting qualifications would be advantageous.
