My client is a manufacturing company producing products for a range of industries via fabrication, assembly and welding. They are seeking a skilled and reliable Sub Arc Welding Operative to join their fabrication team. You will be responsible for operating submerged arc welding (SAW) equipment to fabricate and assemble steel products to required specifications, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities: –
*Operate Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) equipment safely and efficiently.
*Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and work instructions.
*Prepare components and surfaces for welding by cleaning, aligning, and clamping materials.
*Monitor weld parameters (voltage, amperage, travel speed) to ensure high-quality welds.
*Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment.
*Inspect completed welds for quality assurance and conformity to specifications.
*Handle and move heavy materials using overhead cranes or other lifting equipment.
*Work as part of a team to meet production deadlines and quality targets.
*Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company policies.
*Follow all relevant health and safety regulations, including use of PPE.

Requirements: –
*Proven experience as a Sub Arc Welder in a fabrication environment.
*Strong understanding of submerged arc welding techniques and best practices.
*Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
*Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., BS EN ISO, ASME).
*Competent in operating overhead cranes and other heavy lifting equipment (training can be provided).
*Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
*Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
*Physical fitness and stamina for manual handling and standing for extended periods.
*Flexibility to work overtime or shifts if required.

Desirable Qualifications: –
*Valid overhead crane operator certificate.
*Experience with automated or mechanised welding systems.
