My client is an established, successful and growing manufacturing business supporting and supplying a wide range of customers in the UK.

The manager is key and respected Senior figure within the business. This role will be challenging and rewarding covering several areas of the business, support will be provided from all department heads along with the full commitment of the board.

The position will require a positive, motivating “can do attitude” the ability to be able to work calmly and respectfully with other departments. You will ensure that optimum output is reached. This will mean improving and tackling issues with personal, system and machines to ensure the maximum levels are met.

Key duties:
• Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime, driving production through the business meeting all lead times.
• Oversee the workforce in the manufacturing department and create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
• Deliver the operational annual budget including but not limited to payroll, 3rd party storage, cap ex and maintenance.
• Lead, recruit, performance manage, train, develop and motivate the Production team.
• Benchmark all processes and implement new ideas, technology, and systems to ensure the operation is efficient and flexible to meet customer demands including the evaluation of all machinery.
• Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product and processes.
• Ensure all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines.
• Set ambitious production goals, measure, and communicate them to key personnel.
• Determining quality control standards.
• Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.
• Communicate any problems or obstacles to the Managing Director.
• Work closely with the Business Development Manager and Major projects Buyer.
• Provide motivation, support, and guidance to all employees.
• Implement a robust QMS system leading to the implementation of ISO.
• Take full leadership responsibilities regarding production and all major projects.

Candidate requirements:
• Forward Thinking – Takes personal ownership for effectively analysing problems and creating solutions with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
• Teamwork – Develop and maintain sound working relationships with and between all departments to maximise the service  provided to customers.
• Communication – Demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
• Commercial Awareness – Have a thorough understanding of production departments and where this fits in the organisation.
• Recognises the issues that are occurring and influence change to achieve the best overall customer experience.
• People Development – To ensure people are trained, skill sets are appropriate, and development needs are identified and actioned.
• Experience of working with an ERP system / Production software-based system.
• Proven Production / Operations Management experience gained within a production / manufacturing environment.
• Fully conversant with modern production / manufacturing techniques, their implementation and management.
